Ike’s

Step inside Ike’s Food and Cocktail Restaurant and you will be back in the 50′s. Honkin’ cheeseburgers and hand cut fries, along with a creamy chocolate shake will tempt your palate.  The service is friendly and prompt.  Besides from the old diner fare, Ikes serves fresh spring rolls, barbecued chicken, hot wings, shrimp, pot stickers, and tacos.  There is always something for everyone at Ike’s.  You can sit at the old time bar or in a booth.  Casual but delicious, Ike’s is a fun place to be.

Loring Pasta Bar

Since 2000, this temple of affordable elegance has provided Twin Citians and visitors alike with the ultimate relaxed (and relaxing) dining experience. The Loring Pasta Bar is fun, friendly, and so beautiful, you’d think Mother Nature herself designed it. At the LPB, the delight is in the details – the bar’s whimsical brickwork and comprehensive beer, wine, and liquor selection, the main dining area’s ornate floor, the plants that help make our sidewalk cafe one of Minnesota’s most charming outdoor lounging spots, our meticulously prepared comestibles, and dozens of others, not to mention a staff dedicated to making your visit eminently memorable – whether you’re a party of one or 300.

Lucia’s

Chef Lucia Watson is the owner and operator of one of the Twin Cities favorite neighborhood cafes.  The feel is intimate and the menu changes weekly as they work closely with local farmers, offering the best of each season.  Try their mixed greens with pear, hickory nuts, and home made vinaigrette.  All their salads are excellent and super fresh.  My favorite stop by item to purchase is their millet flax seed bread.  It doesn’t have sugar in it like so much of the bread nowadays and is crunchy with millet and flax, chewy, and hearty.  Half of the restaurant is sit down for dinners and wine and the other part lets you order at the counter and bring your food to the table.  They have been around for 25 years and a must stop in uptown.

Salut

You’ll feel like you are in Europe when you step inside Salut.  The French feeling decor puts you in a festive mood.  The food is spectacular and unique.  Try their warm olives or a shooter of nutella banan chocolate milk.  I hear the Quiche lorraine is to die for.  Hustle and bustle is a common theme here but they seem to handle the crowds with ease and attentive doting.

Cafe Latte

Cafe Latte will give you a warm fuzzy feeling the minute you step inside.  The place buzzes with activity during most hours and features three restaurants in one.  It is gourmet cafeteria serving home made soups, crunchy salads, and design your own sandwiches.  It is also a retail bakery and serves the deserts at the restaurant.  If you want to cause yourself a serious addiction, try their tres leches cake.  It is moist like pudding with layers of whipped cream slathered between the yellow, melt in your mouth, not too sweet cake. Cafe Latte is also a pizza wine bar for the later crowd.
